American Airlines
AMR Corp.
On 11/29/2011, AMR Corporation and its subsidiary American Airlines Inc filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. The Company has approximately $ 4 billion in cash and short term investments. American Airlines fleet numbers 900 aircraft. The carrier serves 260 airports in 50 countries with 1800 daily flights.
AMR's plan is to cut costs by $ 2 billion over the next five tears, mostly by reduced labor costs. The company wishes to increase revenue by $1 billion and increase flights 20 %. The Company feels the cuts in labor costs are needed to bring AMR inline with the rest of the industry.
